Your chickens don’t mind being left locked in their coop for a night while you are away for the weekend. For 2 -3 nights away, you may ask your neighbour to pop over to check the water, give some scraps and laying mash and to shift the coop to fresh ground. Any longer than that and your chickens will start to miss you a lot. Your kind neighbours or family friends may offer to let your chickens out once a day and look after them in return for their fresh eggs.
As an alternative, City Chicks offers you the following service:
Holiday Care for your chickens. We can look after your chickens by having them on our acreage in one of our own coops with a private chook run while you are away. They will be fed, watered and played with until your return. Cost = $13 a day includes coop, feed , grit and straw. for up to 4 ladies.
City Chicks clients only pay $6 a day for up to 4 girls to come back and play with old freinds. Just call for a chat and see what availability is like.
